Palmer, Samuel
(27 ene. 1805, Londres, Inglaterra–24 may. 1881, Redhill, Surrey).

Pintor y aguafuertista británico. Comenzó exhibiendo paisajes convencionales en la Royal Academy a los 14 años de edad. Después de convertirse a una forma personal del alto anglicanismo y descubrir el arte medieval, desarrolló un estilo visionario en el que revelaba una representación mística pero precisa de la naturaleza y una desbordante intensidad religiosa, unidas por una recreación vívida de las convenciones pastoriles. En estas obras fue estimulado e influenciado por William Blake. Después de 1830, a medida que languidecía su fervor religioso, el precario equilibrio entre realismo y visión se fue perdiendo.
